P.E.I.—Grade 11 student Jordan Wexler recently discovered a new song he thinks will be a big hit.  “Have you heard Purple Rain by Adam Levine?” asked Wexler.  “It’s totes amazing!”

Wexler first heard the song after getting a text from his friend.  “Chelsea sent me a Kik message with the link.  I was blown away.”

The video shows Levine in a live setting.  Patrick Monahan provides additional vocals while his band, Train, backs the singers.

“Howard Stern is in the clip, too,” said Wexler.  “I don’t know why.  I didn’t even know that guy was still around.  Anyway, Purple Rain is blowing up on Yik Yak.”

Wexler predicts the tune will go far .  “It’s the best song of 2016!  Cover versions are already showing up online.

Wexler’s one concern is that the song will be co-opted by older artists.  “Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and some guy named Jimmy Buffer [sic] did versions.  I hope Drake or Ariana Grande cover it, too.  Otherwise, people will start to think of it as part of that shitty classic rock genre.”

I grew up in the USA, but don't hold that against me because I'm also Canadian. Just think of me as the mole.
