Prime Air, Amazon’s drone-powered delivery system, promises to safely deliver packages to customers in 30 minutes or less. But what if you want to deliver mischief?
CEO Jeff Bezos revealed that among the items that were delivered during the project testing phase was a 2-pound payload of glitter, blasted onto targets with compressed air. Engineers experimented with different spray distances and variable speeds to determine the optimal settings for maximum coverage.
Human targets were not part of the study, but very encouraging results were yielded from tests on vehicles, foliage, and swimming pools.
There is no estimated date for ‘glitter as a service’ but delivery confirmation is already being built-in to the process. Video footage of the payload deployment is captured from multiple onboard HD cameras, and is emailed to senders within 30 minutes.
