TORONTO—Earlier this week, Rob Ford regaled city council with two disingenuous apologies and a handcuff pantomime.  But the real highlight of the day was when the council floor rocked out to a Christmas tune performed by jazz trio Jay Douglas and The All Stars.  Ford shimmied and jived with other council members in what was dubbed a “holiday dance break”.

Video of this spontaneous movement has gone viral and prompted many to wonder whether Ford is sharing his stash with fellow councilors. It also brings to mind a passage from ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: He had a broad face and a little round belly, that shook when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly. He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, and I laughed when I saw him in spite of myself.  The incident has spurred a meme showcasing Ford’s moves with a variety of background music. I grew up in the USA, but don't hold that against me because I'm also Canadian. Just think of me as the mole.
