From the basement of his mother’s home in Thornhill, Ontario, disgraced former ‘Q’ host Jian Ghomeshi is quietly rebuilding his media empire. Capitalizing on his new reputation within the public consciousness, the fired CBC radio host is said to be calling his new show “Hatefuck Your Morning with Jian Ghomeshi” and it will be broadcast live from his currently-shuttered website at jian.ca.
While Ghomeshi remains on house arrest and is barred from contact with the complainants of the lawsuit against him, a webcast is arguably still within the conditions of his release.
Media insiders are widely varied in their reaction. None offered glowing praise, but some were awed by the brazenness of the venture.
“I can’t say if this is spurred by a need to regain attention or recoup lost income, but I can’t wait to see it,” one source said.
“Jian still contends his innocence, so I can only guess that this is some whimsical attempt to allow the public to become reacquainted with his warm, humourous charm,” another offered.
At last appearance in court, Ghomeshi pled not guilty to one count of choking and four counts of sexual assault.
